Enhancing People's Lives by Transforming Spaces with Assistance From SCORE

Jamie met with SCORE counselors Paul Sigas and Bob Zinnecker on December 15, 2010 to receive assistance with starting her new business. Jamie offers Home Staging, Consultation, and Interior Redecorating services. Home staging is the process of preparing a house for sale so that it will have the greatest appeal to the largest number of buyers. Jamie says, “You only have five seconds to make a good impression. For a quick and profitable sale, it is critical to get it right the first time. Through staging we will maximize your home's good qualities, and minimize the imperfections as well as creating a “feeling” that helps buyers envision living in that home.” Redecorating is the process of bringing new life into an old and tired room. By using furnishings and accessories you already own, we transform your rooms one layer at a time. Jamie says “ with today's economy, who can afford to start from scratch? Why not be economical and use your existing treasures and loved pieces, used in new and creative ways, to transform your space.” Color consultations and ideas for new purchases can also be part of the service.
Jamie received both business start-up assistance and business planning assistance from SCORE. She also attended a 2011 business start-up seminar in Fairport.
“The assistance I received from SCORE enabled me to begin my business in a focused manner and prepare a logical and workable business plan. All the counselors at SCORE that I have interacted with have been extremely knowledgeable and helpful. ” she says. Jamie earned her CSS/CRS (Certified Staging Specialist/Certified Redesign Specialist) certifications form the Academy of Staging and Redesign in 2011.
Jamie points out that whether you are selling or staying she will consult with you to understand your needs.. For example in the case of selling: “Before any staging takes place, and even before your home goes on the market, the smart seller will arrange for a Consultation. The Consultation will result in a comprehensive road map of how to prepare your home. You will be provided with a detailed report that includes an analysis of each room and staging recommendations. A Consultation takes approximately one and one half hour and is $175. The process I went through with SCORE was much like what I do for my customers. SCORE’s counselors helped me develop a comprehensive road map for my business and prepare to achieve success.”
