The award is given to the SCORE client that has taken advantage of a range of SCORE’s in-depth counseling and training services and has seen the most substantial improvement in their overall business as a result of the unique mentoring relationship.
“When Jeff and his wife Lynne first came to SCORE, we discovered they had an excellent computer knowledge base and a commitment to providing the highest level of service and user education to their customers.
“Unfortunately neither had much experience actually running a business,” explained Julian Yudelson, Chair of SCORE Rochester’s Marketing Committee. “Over the last year and a half, the SCORE counselors helped him improve many aspects of his business and firmly position his business for long-term success.”

Lynne Willey and Jeff Willey
At 40 years old, Webster native Jeff Willey decided to launch a computer repair business. At first, he operated out of his living room. Within 8 months, the business expanded to his garage. Then a year later, he moved out of his house and opened a shop. The fast growth they experienced meant there was no time for the owners to learn accounting, pricing, competitive analysis and many other critical business management functions. They turned to SCORE for help.
“We were working 16 hours a day and not able to pay our bills,” explained Jeff Willey” “I knew how to fix computers, but I couldn’t earn enough to feed my family. SCORE helped us to understand that our techs were working many more hours than we were charging our customers. The team helped us understand a profit and loss statement, construct a sound business plan and save our business. Not bad for a free service!”
About Jeff’s Computer Service
Jeff’s Computer Service started because Jeff needed to have his computer repaired but he couldn’t find the quality service and expertise he was looking for. Jeff started “playing” with computers in his 40s and taught himself how to repair computers. Then he started helping others with their computer problems and enjoyed it enough to go on to get a degree in Computer Programming and became an A+ Certified Technician. Soon after, Jeff’s Computer Service was born. The company provides computer repairs, 24-hour emergency repair services, upgrades, new and refurbished computer sales and networking services to both residential and business customers. The retail store is located at 1 East Main Street in Webster. Visit www.JeffsComputerService.com
