Eden idi Builds its Future With Help From SCORE

            Eden idi, formed in 2007, designs, manufactures and installs pre-fabricated kitchens and bathrooms or “PODS” for the hotel, adult living, dormitory and high and mid rise construction markets.  Eden idi is affiliated with Downing Corporation, a modular manufacturing company started by Tim and Greg Downing in1987 in Ontario, NY.  Downing Corporation grew to include leasing of modular classrooms and jail space.  In 2006, the Downing’s spun off a second manufacturing and sales company, Downing Modular. 

                                                       

            In December, 2006, Greg Downing, Vice President – Operations contacted SCORE Management Assistance and Review Team leader, Frank Reynolds requesting assistance in reviewing Eden idi’s business plans.  Reynolds assembled a team of SCORE counselors Ed Lynd, Doug Mabon and Bob Zinnecker.  The SCORE team reviewed Eden idi’s business plan and offered a written critique including suggestions for improvement.   They also assisted Eden idi in preparing for presentations of their plan to venture capitalists. 

            “SCORE provided invaluable assistance in helping us improve and expand our business planning,” Greg Downing says.  “They also helped us develop a presentation strategy that put our plan forward in the best possible way.” 

            PODS is a new concept to the construction industry within the United States but is considered a normal build method in European and Asian countries for the past 40 years. The US POD market is drawing attention from several top real estate development firms as well as general contractors and one of the world’s largest plumbing manufacturers has approached Eden to discuss an exclusive manufacturing and marketing agreement. Eden idi has several signed contracts and is in negotiation for several additional contracts at the present time. 

            “Through the strategic initiatives we have developed, Eden idi will facilitate a faster, higher quality and lower cost building construction by producing complete, pre-tested building components that replace thousands of individual parts that are traditionally assembled on-site,” Downing says “SCORE’s assistance to the small business economy of our area is a real asset.”
