Small Business Startup & Survival
On Wednesday, July 11th, 2007, SCORE and the US Small Business Administration will present an all-day workshop entitled Small Business Startup & Survival at the Federal Building in Conference Room B0340, 100 State Street, Rochester, NY from 8:45 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
The program includes information on SBA programs, business planning, banking, marketing, and legal, tax and insurance considerations
The presenters will be people from the business community and SCORE members.

A proper photo I.D. is required for admittance to the Federal Building and no beverages are allowed into the building.

Bay Trail Middle School and SCORE Announce the
Larry H. Clarke Jr. Entrepreneurship Award
SCORE Rochester Chapter 23, a volunteer, service organization sponsored by the US Small Business Administration, and Bay Trail Middle School, Penfield announce the second annual Larry H. Clarke Jr. Entrepreneurship Award given to seventh and eighth grade students who have exhibited exceptional work in the Entrepreneurship Unitduring their Home and Career Skills class. SCORE instituted this award in 2006 to honor Larry Clarke, a long time SCORE volunteer.
This year’s winners are Amanda Corrado of Penfield, Jamie Flood of Fairport, Anja Lindquist of Penfield, and Andrew Melnick of Macedon.
Presenting the awards on behalf of SCORE was Robert Zinnecker, Vice Chair of the Chapter. Ron Marro, Bay Trail's principal, expressed his pleasure to have this avenue torecognize outstanding work of Penfield's students. Mrs. Johanna McKeever, Home and Career Skills teacher, worked with Mr. Clarke from the inception of the program. The winners’ teachers, Mrs. McKeever and Mrs. Barbara Larson, are supportive of the Clarke Award. Mrs. McKeever said, "The Larry Clarke award honors the spirit of community service - one of our foundational principles here at Bay Trail."
The Larry H. Clarke Jr. Entrepreneurship Award is given annually to up to 6 students as nominated by their Home and Career Skills teachers. The recipients must demonstrate outstanding creativity and effort to conceive and develop the idea for their business and the business plan. The award winning students names are engraved on a plaque permanently displayed in Bay Trail. They also receive a certificate and a gift from SCORE.
Zinnecker said, "This award recognizes the outstanding contribution of Larry Clarke and the innovative teaching at Bay Trail Middle School. SCORE is proud to be a partner with the Penfield Central School District in this unique program."
